Hi T,

That project you have presented is far too complex for me to comment meaningfully.
I can, however, make a couple of observations that may or may not help you in your quest.

I saw this morning that Honda had surprisingly firm earnings and it was somewhat unexpected because of expected soft US sales. The Honda people explained that it was more than made up for in Asian sales. I believe that the level of consumerism from the far corners of the world is far more significant than we realize.

Americans investing overseas may see currency appreciation as a bonus.

I spoke briefly with a chap in the parking lot of a mall yesterday. He was driving a KIA full sized something(Korean..I believe). I asked him how he liked the vehicle. He said he settled on it after trying a Mercedes. I guess I looked stunned. He said "come and take a look at it". The interior was extremely well finished and styled. Soft leather seats and wood finish panel and door trim, 9 air bags, power seat lumbar this and that and on and on. It was a large roomy car. He said..this is FULLY loaded and is sold that way. No dickering for options. I was very impressed and in addition the outside styling was certainly dignified and sexy. He said "it cost CDN $ 35,000". That would be $ 28,600 US. I nearly fell over.

I don't expect that an increase in a currency strength would offset the higher energy and commodity prices but of course it would help to mute the spread to some extent.

I think you are more accurately "on to something" when you go in the direction of replacing softening US demand with rising Asian demand.

I think we (west) seriously underestimate the level of sohistication occuring in far east markets. I think we are at the leading edge of a re-balancing of global consumption and production and economic influence.

I also suspect that the preferred supplier in the east will be less and less the US as they close door after door in their perceived erratic behaviour.

Sorry...rambling and not so on topic but...it's all I've got....

P.S. I never did find a TGL whisper number. Will have to wait until Nov 2.

Cheers
C
