<The Jihadists are shrewd political observers, viz., the Spanish bombings. If they can influence a President Kerry to leave Iraq using increased terror designed to create a domestic furor, they will do so.>

They are shrewd -- and that is exactly why they won't use terror against Kerry in the way you imply. Kerry won't cut and run under fire. They will hold fire and Kerry will turn Iraq into an international circus. We will scale back over a year or two and then the civil-regional war that finishes the groundwork for overturning governments in the region by revolution will pick up speed. Make no mistake about it -- Iraq was our primary bulwark against the terrorists, and we were idiotic enough to remove it. Now we will watch the region continue to slip inexorably into the grip of chaos and terror -- if our mission was to help al Qaida, it has indeed been accomplished in spades. Congratulations. Bin Laden owes Bush a Christmas card.
