TPRO "SHORTS" DISCUSSION

Short-selling: Market makers can sell naked short. They don't need to borrow the stock like individual investors must. MM's need this privilege to maintain orderly markets. But some abuse it. Selling naked short is like owning the mint - MM's have a license to print stock certificates.

If they can keep a lid on the stock and wear out the investors, the stock goes to zero, and they make a ton of money by having sold stock that was never issued. It's nasty. And in Topro's case, it is going to get them eaten if they try it.

Of course you are correct that an MM who is in the box (making a market in the name) can get short.

I just don't think any MM in his right mind is gonna take it home short. Period. Anway, I didn't mean to sound curt. Best
wishes and thanks for pointing this one out here and on the Shark Attack at much lower levels.

Short selling/warrants: When warrants are in their run to being called, there is often arbitrage. Warrants are bought, common is shorted. When the warrants are changed shares, the price often goes down until the new supply is absorbed.

David, If you look at the Short Interest figures in today's edition of the WSJ page C12 you'll see that TOPRO had 11,626 on 7/15 and 325,331 on 8/15, a 2,698.3% increase. TPRO also appears on the "Largest % Increases"

Druss, Just luck. I was due. Ask Taxi. I was parked on CTN when the bubble burst - fast, easy lesson on how to lose 50%. If Taxi hadn't beat some sense into me, esol would have been real bad instead of profitable. Taxi has been a real education.......

Jim, I will keep TPRO on my watch list. My gut tells me that it is not time to short it yet, wait for the next up surge.

I have not tried to short. On the surface it seems like a scam stock, aka ZITL or if you remember, CSGI, Shawn Murphy, "The Picks"... The thread has a couple of leaders and a cult like following.

Regarding TPRO, I definately wouldn't short it. I'm long at 4 1/4 partly based on their valuation and business, but mostly as a hedge against my other y2k shorts. People who are going long are doing so for three reasons I feel:

If Y2Kster spooks you then you should consider your own decision to enter TPRO in the first place -- why are you here -- and why does his being here change that? If you do your own due diligence with people like Skipard's and Joe TPRO's and et al's

I sold CREAF at open and went long another 2000 CKFR. Could not get ZITL and was not allowed to short Torpo the Torpedo TPRO- I don't know why. CKFR closed at 20- ask Jon Tara if this a good TA

RB - I have heard that TPRO is marginable, hence shortable, at some brokers. Please go short some. Please!

Running Bull, saw you were interested in shorting TPRO. I'm considering it myself. Those people over on that TPRO thread are like a bunch of cattle all be driven down a canyon towards a cliff. Where do you think a short is a good ... .... I would have posted this at TPRO, but then I'd have to read through 50 messages with a fourth grader's vocabulary calling me crazy, and how TPRO is going to rule the world.

Just found this on the hot topics list and recognized the business name as one I knew from a former life. This is a very tough business to make money in as is evidenced by the performance of the company.

I haven't looked at their P&L, but if they can operate at more than a 25% gross margin, this is a good business for this industry. It is very competitive, and the buy out content is huge, and one bad job can wipe out an entire year.

These guys may think they can stuff their software down their users throat, but where are they going to get the support when these guys go belly up. Can I short this thing?
