Democrats For Censorship?...Only When It Serves Them
By Dave Gibson (10/14/04)
Sinclair Broadcasting Group recently announced that they plan to air a documentary which details John Kerry's anti-war activities upon his return from Vietnam. "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal," will be shown on all 62 of Sinclair's stations.
The documentary features the testimony of several former Vietnam POW's. They describe in great detail, how Kerry's testimony before Congress made their captivity even worse.
Retired U.S. Marine Captain James Warner who was held in North Vietnam for over five years said: "The interrogator went through all of these statements from John Kerry. He starts pounding on the table see, "Here, this naval officer, he admits that you are a criminal, and you deserve punishment"...I didn't know what was going to come next. [John Kerry] abandoned his comrades. He burned up his 'Band of Brothers' card when he did that."
Former Vietnam POW George (Bud) Day said of Kerry: "This man committed an act of treason. He lied, he besmirched our name and he did it for self interests. And now he wants us to forget."
Retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Leo Thorsness who was held by the North Vietnamese for five years said of Kerry's anti-war activities: "Without question, we were held captives longer, because of the anti-war people, from the Kerrys, to Fonda and Hayden...They encouraged the enemy to hang on."
Needless to say, the Democrats are fuming over the production which shows Kerry at his worst. No less than 18 Democratic U.S. Senators have spoken out against the film. Of course, they are scrambling their teams of lawyers to silence these veterans. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Il.) announced that he is joining with his fellow Democrats in a suit to prevent the broadcast.
That's right the Democrats are fighting with the FCC to make sure that the American people will not see this production. The party who has always claimed to oppose censorship is now trying to censor free speech. They apparently do not believe that men who have spent years in POW camps--should not be allowed to have their say.
Those on the left, the same people who want to spend our tax dollars to promote pornography and no-talent artists will attempt to censor anyone who happens to disagree. They believe that only they should have the right to speak out.
The Democrats have even resorted to threatening the Sinclair Group. Kerry spokesman Chad Clanton told Fox News "They better hope we don't win."
Democrats have no problem with Michael Moore producing a film which was filled with lies about President Bush. They also have no problem with a concert tour given by Bush-haters to raise money for Kerry. They do however, have a tremendous problem with the truth.
The footage of Kerry sitting before the a Congressional committee, denigrating the United States military while troops were still fighting...is damning evidence against Kerry. It is also irrefutable.
The issue of John Kerry's seditious, treasonous behavior during the Vietnam War is absolutely relevant to this election. This nation has a right to see John Kerry as he lied about his former comrades.
I simply cannot wait to see it! |
