My daughter taught school in Las Vegas for two years. I went to visit her once, just after a big rainstorm. Everything was bone dry, but somebody had drowned during the storm--in the middle of the street. Apparently desert soil does not account for rain very well.

The day after that there was a big wreck involving a semi--loaded with vibrators (the adult shop variety).

The cops were BEARLY able to control the resulting traffic jam.
