This is the only news I've seen of a Chinese military presence in Sudan. Has this been corroborated by other reliable sources?

Most news reports concern China's veto in the UN regarding interventions over the Darfur genocide.

Here's a map from 2001 showing China's interests at the time. There were no active production wells in China's licensed portion of Darfur back then.
