It bodes ill for a viable Palestinian state since Israel's message is: look, we can't go farther or civil war will break out among Israelis... we've pulled out of the Gaza strip and... that's it! If there ever was a time for Israelis to start a civil war, it was back in 1995 after the far-right assassinated PM Itzhak Rabin --but nothing happened... Worse still: the ensuing election was rigged to defeat Shimon Peres and bring Netanyahu into the top job.... Re: And then -- does it spread to the US -- or is that looking too far into the future?! I'd put it the other way round: a civil war in the US that's gonna ripple across the Atlantic...
