charlie, bulls get confused about demand. demand is a very simple concept. however, it is meaningless, and i mean completely, w/o a discussion on supply.

the bulls got all frothy in the mouth on the mu thread when an mu management tout said "demand remained strong for dram." even though dram pricing was near all time lows. supply was much stronger, but this individual wasn't after expressing the truth but to mislead. the bulls are easy prey, imho.

demand for salt is tens of thousands of times greater than all the semi chips put together. wanna guess the profit margin? ;-)

prices in this industry are dropping. altr's and xlnx's. the bulls tried to say how sweet these two companies were. crapola justification for poor analysis.

supply is overcoming demand and has been for some time. rev increases over the past 18 months have been essentially nil, yet xlnx trades at a sky high pe.

i have no idea whether altr's and xlnx's troubles are short or long term. however. 45 and 50 pes are an incredible price to pay for uncertainty.

i think altr and xlnx are good companies and they make valuable products. it is a valuation thing.

give me a 20 pe on these stocks and i might nibble. maybe...
