In 1941, Prescott Bush was organizing and raising money as the first director of the USO. His boss, Mr. Harriman, was instrumental in keeping the British and Soviet war efforts afloat, as the director of the Lend Lease Program. And Mr Thyssen (the nazi who had the business relationship with both) had broken with Hitler and resigned from the German Government after Crystal Night in 1938 - over Hitler's treatment of Jews. Thyssen in 1941 was a Nazi prisoner, soon to be sent to concentration camp.

Btw, after the war Thyssen was able to keep his companies (after paying a fine). So if you have a German car, it probably has at least some Thyssen parts.
