Darleen > China's central bank raised its benchmark interest rate for the first time in nine years sparked worries about demand for commodities

I cannot work that out. If the currency is pegged to the dollar then raising interest rates should have no effect on the rate of foreign exchange. I could understand that raising Chinese interest rates may diminish Chinese demand for the dollar but the value of the dollar has been steady all day.

So why raising interest rates should affect only commodities is beyond me?
