Apart from what iraqi govt pronouncements do here in the US, it was always quite obvious that Alawi would have to set upon an independent course. I think he will ask the US to leave at some point next year. With shiaa allies and sistani in the south and kurds in the north and perhaps with a deal in place with al sadr, the sunni/baath/terrorist rebellion can be dealt with or at least that might be what he thinks. In the end in order to have a united iraq with a federal form of govt, there will have to be iraqis with the will to fight the baath/terror alliance in order for a good outcome. Otherwise three state solution which the Kurds might not object to and perhaps even sistani might approve. Mike
