30 bucks an hour for semiskilled work sounds like a great gig to me...involves getting some sun and some exercise? Where do I sign up? (I speak some Spanish y'know...<G>)

How many sheets of drywall can you hang in a day? Are you afraid of heights? Can you get up at 5am, drink coffee while driving at the same time you are going back and forth on your Nextel walkie talkie with some general contractor about to have a coronary because you hired 30 guys and only 20 showed up and you are two days away from getting a huge fine for running over the due date on the project? Are you willing to tell electricians, on a daily basis, "If you azzholes don't finish, get your inspection and GTF out of here I'm gonna shoot you with a pin gun." How are you on stilts? Are you willing to walk off the job as soon as OSHA shows up? Or willing to buy new power cords when they cut yours into little tiny pieces? How do you feel about working outside when the weather is sub zero (remember to wear your hard hat liner) and working inside when the weather is 90 degrees and they are testing the heat? Are you willing to lose your hearing at age 65 and never have more than 30 minutes for lunch (which you, of course, eat while sitting on a mud bucket)?

It's a hard life, construction that is. Most Americans don't want to do it unless they are going to get paid more than 30/hour as their own boss.
