You didn't read the article, did you?

Sure I did. Whining all around.

"That is, the mechanics of the new digital democracy boxes "spoil" votes at a predictably high rate in African-American precincts, effectively voiding enough votes cast for John Kerry to in a tight race, keep the White House safe from the will of the voters."

...

"Even when computers work, they don't work well for African-Americans. A July 2001 Congressional study found that computers spoiled votes in minority districts at three times the rate of votes lost in white districts. "

What tripe. Why don't you guys just come out and say you think minority districts are too dumb to vote properly? Frankly, I think they can work the machine just as well as anyone else.

One glaring omission in the article is exactly how a computer vote gets "spoiled" in the first place? The computer isn't going to allow someone to vote for the same office twice (for example). Is a "spoiled" computer vote one where the voter just pushed the button for the wrong candidate??? If so, paper or computer aren't going to make a hill of beans difference.
