I'll say it again. IBM gets no contract for fabbing from AMD until AMD starts to get sales through the IBM store.

Before it would make sense to fab outside, AMD needs to sell out Dresden facility, but we are not there yet.

The earliest possible date for start of this type of venture would be wafer starts starting in May 2005, wafer outs in August 2005, and even this assumes an optimistic scenario of AMD steadily gaining sales unit-wise, beyond the growth of capacity 90nm conversion will make possible.
