I'm really hoping that California's Proposition 62 not only passes, but starts a national trend. It really bites that our choice usually boils down to candidates who are on opposite ends of the liberal-conservative spectrum.

For those who aren't familiar with it, Prop. 62 would allow you to vote for any candidate regardless of party in each primary race, and then the top two vote getters would advance to the general election regardless of party. I think this would break the stranglehold that party extremists of both sides have on our political system.
