We check the sources that tend to have similar views as ourselves.

No harm in that.
It's just important to look at the more ordinary sites too.

The first site I turn to for news is Google. I just select the news button and scan what is presented. I believe it marks the stories that are most searched by everyone.

I then do the same thing for Yahoo news.

Then I may turn to selected filtered news gathering.
