>>May I coin the term "cyber-panhandling" and ask that you consider adding it as a TOU violation?
I believe it's already covered. However, this chain of events occurred in private messages with several people over a long period of time, and I've yet to see anyone who claims to have filed a complaint at the time it occurred versus years after the fact. Apparently nobody considered it to be a violation or problem at the time, and nobody claims to have been forced or coerced into participation. After all, the trash was merely a click away.
Undoubtedly parts of these endeavors also occurred via regular email, telephone, snail mail, messenger services and in person. SI is means by which people can connect, converse and exchange information with each other, similar to all of the above methods of doing so. Nobody is blaming or calling for action by the US Postal Service, the telcos, FedEx, or their Internet service provider.
I've said repeatedly in exchanges with others that SI and PM's are not relevant in this matter. Blaming PMs simply serve to obscure the real issues, including the value of due diligence, the perils of investing with friends, the risk of investing in venture-capital type Internet startups, the value of participating in high-risk investments and the potential cost of non-participation, and being accountable for ones own decisions.
I changed the title of this thread so it would comply with the TOU and reflect the generic topic. A better title would be "Trust Everyone But Always Cut The Cards". |
