Yep, centrists. Your people have been lying to you about them "damn liberals". Kerry's policies are right down the center, with a few steps on both sides. Certainly more fiscally conservative than Bush is. Kerry is from ther Clinton centrist group. He gave up his liberal stripes long ago. That's why Howard DEan was able to attack him as "Bush lite".
