Dave, we do have PM candidates, though they are appointed by the party. In practice, we all know exactly who the PM is going to be. We do pick a person for parliament, but also have another vote for a party, which chooses their party list to go into parliament, depending on how many votes the party gets.

I'm actually more interested in NZ politics, but I don't think many readers here would be interested in the gory details. Anyway, it would be off topic. Lindy would ban me. Not that I'd want to inflict the subject on you. Why should you care about red ants and black ants arguing over a piece of cheese somewhere on another planet?

USA politics has a distinct effect on my way of life, so it's quite interesting to me. I pay a lot of tax in the USA too, but despite the USA's Declaration of Independence and the slogan "NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION", USA IRD deducts what they want from my broker account. I should tell USA IRD "No taxation without representation" and see if they let me off.
