John, bin Laden is now saying his issue is with US policy support of Israel's 1982 attack of Lebanon where buildings there were attacked and had collapsed, according to Al Jazeera (you won't find Israel mentioned in CNN's version of the story, so it's been added in brackets below for accuracy). He is no longer saying 9/11 was because of US military bases on Arabic land.

Here is what CNN says:

cnn.com

"Osama bin Laden ...told Americans their security does not depend on the president they elect, but on U.S. policy. And he said al Qaeda remains motivated to strike the U.S. again." (because of USA policy)..."the attacks of September 11, 2001 were the result of U.S. foreign policy in Arab lands, specifically referring to [Israel's 1982 attack on per Al-Jazeera] Lebanon and the Palestinians."

It's interesting how CNN avoided saying "Israel".

On a different note, it reminds me how our media often dodges (ignores) the issue around Israel's inflaming of terrorists through bulldozing buildings/people, while the other side's media completely ignores how terrorists kill thousands of our citizens-Al-Jazeera shows absolutely no empathy to us for how the terrorists want to kill even more of us. I think both sides need to be more inclusive of the facts from all perspectives so we don't keep getting attacked.

I hope they don't get their hands on a dirty bomb:

"The videotape was aired just one day after ABC News broadcast a video of a man claiming to be an American operative of al Qaeda who said the United States should brace for a large-scale attack that "will make you forget all about September 11th."

So, which city will it be? NY, DC, Boston, LA, SF, Seattle, Chicago?

bin Laden's video essentially guarantees a Bush win and that's concerning to me because that will probably fuel even more violent attacks on the USA since Bush antagonizes in ways he doesn't seem to realize. I don't feel safe with Bush, nor with USA policy. Neither.

Regards,
Amy J
