Corel Corp. has just signed a $2.5- million contract from the U.S.
Justice Department to supply 13,000 upgrades of its specialized
office software for lawyers to the department's legal and
administrative support staff.

The Ottawa-based software developer also signed another recent
deal with New York-based legal giant Sherman Stirling to provide
the firm with it Web-based Office Suite for the legal profession, now
under development.

SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 28, 1997--Netmosphere,
Inc., a pioneer in the Intranet productivity software market, today
announced that Corel Corporation will license from Netmosphere key
components of its real-time collaboration and task management software
technology for the new enterprise-focused suite, code-named "Alta."
Netmosphere's ActionPlan(TM) and Java(TM) Application Server (JAS)
software uses push-pull technology to communicate status, plan
changes, and task-related comments immediately to a distributed team.

"With our technology, Corel now has the Java-based interactive
collaboration features it wants for its new Alta product," said
Heather Rose, Netmosphere president and CEO. "This licensing agreement
supports our strategy to bring real-time project coordination to the
enterprise."

"As this agreement demonstrates, Corel is completely committed to
carrying out its aggressive Java-based product strategy," said Paul
Skillen, Corel Corporation's vice president of Engineering. "Corel's
`Alta' will provide an improved platform for information handling and
knowledge management inside and outside the organization.

Netmosphere's ActionPlan and Java Application Server (JAS) software is
a key component in that platform."
