Thanks, Ray. Of course, a scruffy beard does not necessarily an imposter make.
On the other hand, one can hardly take something which is, in fact, no more than a video, which has been submitted anonymously to an Arab TV station, at its face value, especially when it would be so easy for anyone to "manufacture" it.
> If some PR punk is going to go to all the trouble to create a video saying that George Bush and Bin Laden agree that the American public need more security, who are we to quibble?
Doubtless, the "security" means more military expenditure at the expense of social services, more pre-emptive invasions of various Muslim countries and, of necessity, institution of the draft. To this, add the removal of certain Amendments to the Bill of Rights as well as other infringements to the liberty of the individual. Also, one can expect witch-hunts and a clamp down on antiwar dissenters. If I was in your shoes I would be very worried to hear "bin Laden" and W agreed about anything. It will certainly not be to your benefit. |
