Wow, thanks, AS. Not that I didn't know such ugliness was out there, but it's always good to be reminded to be prepared. :)
"Jesus! Jesus!" screamed 26-year-old Joe Robles, pointing to his Bush-Cheney sign. "The man stands for God," he said of the president. "We want somebody who stands for Jesus.
hmm, like this from Matthew?
43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you salute only your brethren, what more are you doing than others?
I'm thinking he missed that part. We talk about the anger that devides this nation and the ugly path this nation has started to follow, but so much comes back to me to a segment of people using the Christian banner who have become loud... back to the beginning of the Moral Majority... and the Christian Coalition, etc. It pains to see beautiful thoughts turned into hatred and used to drag our nation down, much as a radical element is doing to Islam. Can we just give them an island to fight it out on and leave us alone? |
