Silverado Hybrid Enters Mainstream By Byron Pope
Staff Reporter

OCTOBER 25, 2004 TECH CENTER NEWS Detroit Auto Scene THIS WEEK METRO DETROIT,MICHIGAN

2nd Paragraph

Fleet sales of the Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid began in May,w
hen GM shipped 50 of them to Dade County in Florida. Since then, retail orders have been coming in faster than GM can build them.

"We're exceeding what our expectations were," said GM spokeswoman Rebecca Harris.

"The first retail unit build was 1,500 and we have more on order than we can build. For fleet sales we were planning to build 500. The reason we're not building them faster is there's a componet problem . One of the suppliers that builds for us is constrained due to a move, and so we're only able to build what we said were going to do currently."

The article goes on to talk about demand, performance, (some good details on performance)xxxxxxPrice ($2,500)more than standard Silverado xxxx
That isn't bad when you consider its long term fuel savings.

Recommend Article.
