The treason came in the form of three visits to Paris for privet talks with the North Vietnamese delegation and, perhaps, a visit to Hanoi. All while he was still in the Navy reserves.

During the visits to Paris, Kerry got his marching orders for his involvement in the anti-war movement. At those times the NV peace delegation did a lot of the coordination of these US movements.

In other words, it looks to me that, Kerry was a direct agent of the North Vietnamese.

His task was to undermine the willingness of the people of the US to continue the war. It was a form of attack that worked very well.
