On a slightly different subject, one which you undoubtedly know something about, I wonder what your opinion is regarding patented grain seeds. Specifically the requirement of farmers to buy the seed every year from the supplier. There is a case, right here in Canada, where a farmer was convicted of growing a crop from patented seed for which he hadn't paid Monsanto. It is illegal to keep the seed from genetically engineered crops and plant them. sfgate.com Happily, for the biotech companies, Iraq has silently been pulled into this wonderful arrangement. todaysalternativenews.com I remember in my youth, the equivalent of which is now Agriculture Canada, developed grain seeds, suited for out climes, and they became standard fare, helping to feed the world. I am specifically thinking of northern wheat. Those days are over apparently, and I wonder how long before all seeds must be bought from these biotech companies. Free enterprise ain't so free, is it?
