On a slightly different subject, one which you undoubtedly know something about, I wonder what your opinion is regarding patented grain seeds. Specifically the requirement of farmers to buy the seed every year from the supplier. There is a case, right here in Canada, where a farmer was convicted of growing a crop from patented seed for which he hadn't paid Monsanto. It is illegal to keep the seed from genetically engineered crops and plant them.

I remember in my youth, the equivalent of which is now Agriculture Canada, developed grain seeds, suited for out climes, and they became standard fare, helping to feed the world. I am specifically thinking of northern wheat. Those days are over apparently, and I wonder how long before all seeds must be bought from these biotech companies.
