8 metres? Over a period of 100 years or so, that's no worry. A bolide splash would involve maybe 20 metres for a mini one and that tide rise would occur in about 1 second. Ice melting is no worry at all. Over 50 years, we can all just move uphill. No problem. Most of us will die in that time anyway, so only half of us will have to move uphill. If H5N1 chicken flu [or mates] gets going, there might be a LOT more than half of us dead over the next 50 years. Maybe within a year or two ... now that's a Yikes!!!!! [with a lot of exclamation marks too]. Meanwhile, Al Q and Osama seem to be a worry for some reason. Their efforts have been minuscule compared with what chicken flu can do. Yet most people worry about them more than sneaky, vicious and lethal little viruses. Mqurice
