Western investment is primarily in extraction. If that were the sole pipeline route, you might have a point. But it is not, and, in fact, the route through Russia is much safer, and can link with existing pipelines. However, there is interest in building a couple of routes, so that redundancy can protect against interruption. In essence, we do not need the route to the Arabian Sea, although it would be convenient.
