The crux of the intolerance question is not the line between tolerance and intolerance but between acceptance and tolerance

I think that's right. People can tolerate a lot of things they won't support or even fully accept. Actual tolerance is a much easier goal than acceptance or full agreement. The issue gets confused by those who seek full acceptance or support in the name of tolerance.
