Well yes you can install LINUX on your second hard drive. But your boot sequence is determine by your BIOS. To boot from a second hard drive you will need to use your BIOS to select which operating system to boot. With the large capacity hard drives available today a much more convenient method is to install both operating systems on one drive and then use a boot manager to select which operating system to boot at start up. Your second hard drive can be used by either operating systems if you install a file system on your second drive that is compatible with both operating systems.
