It doesn't help anybody get well to know WHY they used.... even it is true. It's just another of a looooooong list of excuses addicts and alcoholics use to tell themselves that it's OK to keep killing themselves. Whenever someone brings up one of these excuses at a meeting, the 2 year, 5 year, 10 year, etc. recovering addicts/alcoholics get a big chuckle out of it. Meanwhile the newbie with the court slip going through withdrawal is sitting there wondering WTF is wrong with them, what are they so freakin happy about.

Amazingly, most of the reasons people have for using go away once they've been straight long enough. They find out all these "problems" they had that "made" them use were all related to their using drugs in the first place.
