This is perhaps a difference between New Zealand and America.

Virtually everyone in America who is qualified to borrow money already owns at least one house.

The rental return on homes are absurdly low. Far more people own homes they wish to rent than there are people who wish to rent them.

The official financial bubble television channel, CNBC, has run many special segments on those locations you might want to consider for the purchase of your next additional home. I was particularly amused by their special on "What sort of automobile can you buy now with $200,000".

Trust me, the difference between America and Japan is 2%.
