Ambient Announces Award of Additional Patent to Its Portfolio

Another Step Towards Strengthening Ambient's Competitive Advantages
NEWTON, MA--(MARKET WIRE)--Nov 2, 2004 -- Ambient Corporation (OTC BB:ABTG.OB - News), a leader in Power Line Communications (PLC) announced today the addition of a patent to its portfolio. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued Patent Number 6,809,633, 'Arrangement of a Data Coupler for Power Line Communications.'

This patent covers innovative, highly efficient low voltage couplers for outdoor use. It also covers filters for separating power lines into multiple segments for different frequency bands. These filters are installed on medium voltage lines, and facilitate the re-use of frequency bands in neighborhoods with complex power grids. The patent, which is the result of the Company's extensive field work, broadens coverage for more of Ambient's competitive advantages and further protects Ambient's position as a leader in PLC.
The issuance of this patent is another significant step in Ambient's patent management strategy for protecting its proprietary technology. The Company now has three patents awarded with an additional 14 pending.
The alignment of many recent positive factors, including positive results from ongoing demonstration projects, new FCC regulations favorable to PLC, a growing demand for PLC systems and offerings as well as the continuing success in implementation of its patent strategy, places Ambient in an extremely favorable position.
