In terms of taking down terrorist we did do what it takes. In terms of making 100% sure (or close to it) that we would catch bin Laden a million soliders might not be "what it takes" and that is if we could get them there quickly. In the time it took to get a tenth of that many in to the search bin Laden could be anywhere in the world.

"There are many cases where high profile international fugitives didn't get caught for years, if at all."

And there are many cases where they are caught immediately, so what. Your mumbo-jumbo posts drive me nuts.

Yes sometimes you get lucky. You didn't say "maybe we would have gotten lucky". You said if we put more soldiers in to the search we would have gotten him. You said "The same effort would have had bin Laden and his company" Since there are many cases where high profile targets are never caught (and those are targets without bin Laden's support network) it silly to make such a strong statement. Its esp. silly because it isn't even clear that we didn't make the same level of direct effort to get bin Laden that we made to get Saddam. We had a lot more soldiers in Iraq to defeat Saddam's more powerful forces, but most of those forces were not directly searching for Saddam.
