Since when is the unprovoked mass murder of civilians rational, even in a relativistic, deconstructed more or less sense?
I certainly consider the old crop of Russkies and Americans a lot more rational, stable, and in control than the current bunch of head-wacking Wackiristanis. No Russian ever flew planes into any high rises in NYC; no Soviet ever bombed my embassies; no Russkie ever blew up passenger planes [except for a stray Korean 747, and that was an isolated mistake]; and no Red sumbitch ever chopped off heads on teevee for the world to see.
The Reds had some respect for us. The Wackiristanis diss us every day.
In the hierarchy of Wackiness, the people inhabiting the ME take the cake.

I don't want any of them anywhere near a nuclear trigger, especially the Mad Mullahs and their Hizbollah sidekicks because they can cause a lot of trouble. A whole hell of a lot of trouble.

Of course, I know internal and external pressures did them in, including to a limited degree the Wackiristani jihadis in Afghanistan. However, the Wackiristanis truly believe down to their toes that they did so alone, that Allah was on their side bringing down the Soviet HIND helicopter gunships[instead of a bunch of Stinger missiles supplied thanks to Ronnie R.], and that they can repeat the feat with the weak, decadent Americans.
It's not vengeance, it's not tit-for-tat, it's certainly not self-defense that is driving the recent insanity. It's a complete and collective internally logical yet insane but self-supporting religious delusion, based on a book which is sufficiently ambiguous to allow for any interpretation you wish, that is causing the problem.
All you have to do is read what they say and take them at their word.
