I hear stories all over the place about long term friends not talking any longer to each other because of politics. I myself had to work out "agree to disagree" deals with a few friends. The situation is very divisive... I would say, even more so then could be explained by the political implications of whoever wins the election.

My theory is, of course, that this is all part and parcel of the great bear market in social mood. The fundamentalist Islamist resurgence is the geopolitical "theme" of the great decline. This is how it is actualising itself in the international sphere.
