I briefly overheard some figures this morning suggesting that there was little difference between '04 and '00.

African American voters are getting increasingly sophisticated. I saw an interview last night of a local young, very bright, black GOP woman who has switched because, obviously, the opportunities for someone like her within the GOP are basically without limit. She feels that she is just another face in the Dem crowd.

I think we are going to see accomplished African Americans gravitate toward the GOP in increasing numbers. However, the pool of "accomplished" members of any ethnic group is by definition a small one so they'll successfully exert influence and promote their own prospects but may not necessarily deliver huge numbers of votes to the GOP.
