As I mentioned in an earlier post, the problem was that a lot of folks were "afraid" to admit they supported Bush within their own social circles. You can see that happening even in the Blue states where Bush lost by less than pre election poll or exit poll margins.

Diane Francis pointed this out in Canada's National Post as a distinct possibility a week ago, and it seems to have been bang on.
