I completely agree with you and share the frustration. But the claim that God is on OUR side sound a bit too radical to me. After all, I think you are claiming to be a progressive. I know not if God really exists and I don't really care. As they say, causality of a dirty campaign is the truth. But, my experience is that truth is like fire that cannot be put off. Given right time and conditions, it will turn into mega blaze that cannot be ignored.

Remember Clinton philandering stories and how he tried to cover-up with fancy speak? Even though the impeachment process caused a bitter partisan divide, his walking a thin line with truth caught up with him. Like wise, there are situations in my personal life where I agonized over the apparent triumph of a corrupt individual - whom I worked with. Personally I could do nothing about his jealousy driven vendetta against me. In about 5 years time, truth caught up with him and he almost went to prison.

The brighter side of this situation is that Bush will inherit his own mess. And it is his own to fix. If his record is any indication, the mess will get bigger. Rove and his cronies are good at manipulating the pea brained voter minds. Bush administration is only good at doing things in secrecy. They are good at almost nothing else. This Iraq situation will bow-up on their faces. I am almost positive that they cannot fix it. Either they have to cut and loose or reinstate a draft to keep the war going. The ineptness of this administration will be magnified and the consequences will arrive at an accelerated pace. Bush will again try to blame somebody else - the congress or a foreign power (or, God forbid, another terrorist attack). There will be a time even the religious right and the South who adored this finally legitimate (appears to be) President will regret it.

This is how I see Election 2004 - it is a mini civil war on fictitious issues. This time the South won and won big.
