Israeli Cable Consortium Selects SeaChange for Television On-Demand Services
Monday October 18, 12:36 pm ET
On-Demand Leader to Anchor Extensive National Deployment

TEL AVIV, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 18, 2004-- HOT, the Israeli cable consortium comprised of Golden Channels, Matav and Tevel, is rolling out on-demand television in November 2004 and has selected SeaChange International (Nasdaq: SEAC - News) to provide the platform and integration services for this advanced new television service. SeaChange's VOD Systems will enable the three cable operators to provide over one million subscribers with an array of television programming - such as movies, time-shifted broadcast television, subscription services and localized content - to view at their convenience with fast-forward, rewind and pause capabilities.

On-demand television is advancing quickly around the globe. Recently, ntl, the largest cable operator in the U.K., announced Europe's first large-scale deployment. Asian broadband operators in several countries are moving quickly to leverage their high-speed broadband networks.

Viewers are watching movies, sports, news and a range of other television programming when they want -- even electronic games will soon be available on-demand. Innovation is spurring new program options from local high-school sports to dating services to government meetings.

"We are working to provide our subscribers throughout Israel with the most advanced television applications like on-demand, which satellite just can't match," said Ram Belinkov, HOT CEO, at a press conference held this morning. "We've been very diligent in selecting the best solutions providers and SeaChange's unparalleled experience in on-demand television provides the reliability and the automation to ensure the success of this exciting new television application."
