Avian flu that can be easily transmitted from human to human would be a major problem, regardless of how such a construct was formed (in a lab or naturally). The US has stockpiled antivirals, but data from Thailand raises some serious questions about the use of such anti-virals in controlling a pandemic (and vaccines still have a way to go).
