Absolutely - it's time for even those with deep hatred to realize that there can be no winners if things continue as they are going. Palestinians will never get a state with terror. Israelis will never be safe unless they take steps towards serious negotiations. Doing something "nice" even for Arafat would be a diplomatic coup. Hatred needs to be stopped as it will take decades to be eliminated. Israel will never be safe so long as there is an environment where 1 crazed Jihaddist can wipe out a large part of Israel. With Arafat gone, it is an opportunity for Israel to say that they will negotiate with no preconditions. Of course, the Palestinians need to unite behind a new leader, one who has credentials as a diplomat and not a bomb maker, one who can control the extremists, so that Israel does not have to keep going back in with tanks.
