Hi Searle:

>> the residents of New Jersey, New York and Washington DC, voted Democrat.

True but their minds are not open to voting for the Republicans federally and wouldn't even if a nuclear bomb had gone off. The Coastal Liberals want to sit and talk with adversaries. The idea of striking back at anyone is now not an acceptable option regardless of the attack. It's all a lack of communication you see and all problems between people can be worked out by discussion and compromise. The fact that the bombers don't want to talk and already know all they want to know goes nowhere with these liberal folk.

>> this marks the rise of religious fundamentalism and its intrusion into politics.

I think the 20 million who voted for Ross Perrot were mainly fundamentalist. Only about 2 million more voted for Bush this time compared to 2000 so I don't think there was much of a "rise". I think that Bush got all his supporters to rise from their couches and vote and that accounts for the outcome.

>> voted just on the basis of their "belief" in W and their concern over "moral" issues,

I agree. About 52 million people voted for Bush because he represents their social, moral and related values. I think Bush truly represents the average US voter or at least the majority of voters and they recognize him for what he has done and is likely to do and they agree with him.

>>a "new", "revisionist", America.

I think it is better described as a return to an older America. Liberal modifications are now about to be rolled back in whole or in part. We have already seen some of this as the profanity of some "out there" radio stars has been "stopped" in various ways .

As was noted on CNN --of all places--Janet Jackson showed more than a wardrobe malfunction at the last Superbowl She ran headlong into the changing tide. Mr and Mrs MidSouthwest didn't want to see her boob in their family room while watching the great American event any more than they wanted to see the face of her brother. In addition the rest of the half time show offended the people I'm calling Bush supporters. But they finally got it together and have decided they don't like the way things are going. Don't defile the Superbowl. Don't marry men. And don't trust a wimp like Kerry when there are 100's of 1000's of people who want to kill us right here in our "Heartland".

So as I said a few hundred words ago-- I think the 9/11 event was the turning point--the US has changed and its going to look like they are going in reverse for quite a while.
