Anhold said ve can afford it.

The same guy that got elected Gov. on fiscal responsibility is now saying we can afford $250 million more in taxes EVERY YEAR FOR 30 YEARS (bond payments, whatever, it's all the same) must be playing to the Hollywood crowd here. YES, the state that could barely manage it's electricity distribution now feels like it's over the hump (via sleight of hand bonds and budget item maneuvering ) and can add new debt let alone a lofty bureaucracy by the name of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine. My own local assemblyman gave me a clue as to how things go in Sacrament. If a bond passes that benefits children's hospitals then the legislature de-funds by nearly this amount from general fund revenues and claims that they are getting MORE.

Arnold's last foray in bonds for after school programs to the tune of $550 million PER YEAR can't go into effect until the state stops running deficits, so he can't even keep his own promises while adding on new debt. No real priorities. What happened to the money from Rob Reiner's 50-cent tax on cigarettes to pay for children's programs?

California voter's aren't defying the Bush Administration, they are defying common sense for pie in the sky promises of un-proven science.

Before we leave we intend to fund Fusion Research and Nanotechnology the same way in California, then set back in Arizona or another state and enjoy the show.
