Of course to really separate "the blues" from "the reds" you would have to break down the countries in to a crazy quilt work of boundaries.

Even if you could do that neither country would really be the stereotype that the other side would paint it as being. Neither the majority of Bush voters nor the majority of Kerry voters hold the opinions of those at the extreme edges. You wouldn't get 90% tax rates in "Blue Country", or contraception bans in "Red Country"
