The debt was higher than that in the late 80s if you adjust for inflation.

The debt is not Bush's fault, there was almost this much debt at the end of the Clinton era.

The fact that the debt is increasing is a result of the recession and 9/11.

If we get the economy growing, tax revenue will grow and the debt will be reduced. We're on the right track right now. If Kerry had been elected, he would have raised taxes, this would have slowed the economy, and the debt would have continued to grow.
