I talked with Walt (i hope Paul has a nice vacation, lots of work next week) and he tried to explain the volume spikes. The server gets only cumulative daily volume on each trade and it has to "compute" the delta between previous cum vol and new cum vol to get trade volume.
SO, if a trade is "missed" or a cul volume of "zero" is reported the next volume shown is the cumulative daily volume. So this creates volume "spikes". The "error" is usually identifiable since the number is the cumulative daily volume at that time. There have been many times tho where I have seen 200 -500 million share volumes, so i don't know where those come from.
We tried to find a "price" spike of 2 3/4 on ASND that I had on my system, but it was 'no longer on the server".
Sharon "disconnecting"
No, have not had that problem at all, Sharon just stops feeding data briefly about 20 times a day, for 1-2 minutes. Also today, company profiles were hard to get and usually took 3-5 minutes to get, when added symbols were entered during the day.
I think slow progress is being made. Walt seems to think Daily charts will be up middle of next week, but I worrry that that is going to add to the amount of data being fed by a factor or 30% atleast in the morning when we log on.
Also, keep an eye on your "news files" apparently they grow every day if you do not use news. I had 14 megs of news in my IT directory. After deleting the news files RTIT loaded 6 seconds instead of 40 seconds.
