He didn't have to invade Iraq. It has been now proven that the sanctions were working. He invaded Iraq because Saddam tried to kill his dad. It was personal. All the excuses you cite are just that, excuses. The secondary reason for invading Iraq was to try a free market economy in the middle east. That has also been a failure thus far. You need stability to have a free market economy.
