LUDLOW - Will It Snow?
By Money Politic$

The Washington Post and others assume that Treasury man John Snow will soon be departing in President Bush's anticipated second-term cabinet shakeup. I have no idea if this is true. But before pundits, including conservative pundits, write off Mr. Snow, they should recall that he was a senior member of Jack Kemp's tax reform commission in the mid-1990s.

Snow is well acquainted, and highly supportive, of flat tax reform that would flatten tax-rates, reduce tax brackets and broaden the tax base by eliminating special interest loopholes and deductions in order to pay for rate reduction. Snow would also like to integrate corporate tax reform into the overall policy exercise. He is, therefore, knowledgeable on these issues and would be a valuable resource in the coming battle. At least one highly-placed Wall Street source tells me that former CSFB CEO John Mack has been interviewed for the job. But I cannot confirm.
