ADSL is a buzzword for DMT Discrete Multi-tone type phy's which were invented at stanford university and fist commercialized by amati communications. PAIR is also a producer of DMT phy's. Last time I checked amati did not manufacture any modems they only sold the chipsets to others who built products. Are they selling modems under their brand name now??? Talk about web power. Yes, faster or more price competitive than cable modems, not a prayer. IMO DMT is still a far too expensive choice as a phy layer compared to QAM-64 type phy's. Sean
